FLEXOfibers™ wins the EmprendeXXI Award in Castilla La Mancha, Spain

FLEXOfibers™ was awarded on March 21, 2023, as the most innovative startup in Castilla-La Mancha at the 16th edition of the EmprendeXXI Awards. This recognition is promoted by CaixaBank (through DayOne, a division for technology companies and their investors) together with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, through Enisa, and with the support of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board .

The prize consists of 6,000 Euros and an international training program for startups, MoonShot Thinking Entrepreneurs, by experts from Esade and Silicon Valley.

The 16th edition of the EmprendeXXI Awards received a total of 1,135 applications from Spain and Portugal, which represents almost 50% more than the previous year. Of these more than 1,100 proposals, the organization will reward 19 at the territorial level: 17 in Spain (one per autonomous community) and two in Portugal (north-central zone and Lisbon-south and Islands).

Flexofibers, directed by Manuel Grases, Alejandro Grases and Ricardo Ayala, values the waste from tire recycling plants in order to obtain and give a second life to high-quality steel fibers to incorporate them into the construction industry.

The EmprendeXXI Awards promote entrepreneurial activity and value the work of newly created companies with the greatest impact in their territory and that respond to the main challenges of society.

FLEXOfibers wins the METABUILDING GROW/HARVEST CALL (2nd call), together with two other companies, the project: “Development of high performance and sustainable fiber reinforced concrete components by the use of recycled steel fibers from tires” sustainable, high-performance fibers by using steel fibers recycled from tires).

The other two organizations/companies were CETMA and ITO.

METABUILDING is a 3-year Horizon 2020 EU Innovation project funded by the European Innovation Council and SME Executive Agency (EISMEA).

15 European partners join forces to support SMEs from 6 European countries, bringing innovation to the “traditional” value chain of the Construction sector and expand it to other industries to create an enlarged Built Environment industrial sector enabling these SMEs to internationalise their activities and reach European markets.
